Automotive safety sensing specialist IEE will be showcasing its Wireless Occupant Detector and Smart Trunk Opener at the 65th IAA International Motor Show taking place from 12-22 September in Frankfurt, Germany.

Through product demonstrations and interactive displays, visitors to the IEE booth will have the opportunity to test the products for themselves.

IEE’s Smart Trunk Opener provides automatic, hands-free access to a vehicle’s trunk, in combination with a keyless entry system. Offering convenience when stowing numerous, large or bulky items, the Smart Trunk Opener recognizes a forward and backward movement at the vehicle’s rear bumper. The keyless go system then confirms that the person has the remote, allowing the trunk to open automatically.

The Wireless Occupant Detector measures seat occupant status for removable front or rear seats, and triggers a warning to occupants to fasten their seat belts. The battery-powered solution does not require additional hardware, as it uses existing on-board radio frequency (RF) receivers for data transmission. Another possible application is the support of eCall functions, as the system can provide the number of vehicle occupants in the event of an emergency.

In addition to these product demonstrations, IEE will also showcase an interactive display of its Customized Input Sensing (CIS) product range. CIS sensors allow vehicle on-board devices to offer touch-sensitive and intuitive navigation, enabling the user to access a wide range of functions through a simple touch.

IEE’s all-in-one seating concept, combining automotive safety and comfort functionalities, will also be on display. This solution offers automatic Child Restraint System (CRS) airbag deactivation, a seat belt reminder function and seat heating, all integrated in one solution, resulting in enhanced cost savings for material and installation.
