How to motivate teams and allow them to excel?
In his Keynote session, Harry van Dorenmalen will detail his vision for smarter leadership. What can leaders do? How can they re-invent their role and develop their organization, in both a humane and effective way?
**About Harry van Dorenmalen**
Harry van Dorenmalen (1955) is Chairman of IBM Europe. He combines this role with the General Country Manager role for IBM Netherlands NV.
Harry started his career at IBM 23 years ago after completing his degree in business administration from the University of Delft in the Netherlands. "My father showed me an IBM ad. I felt I had to apply for a job. Initially I was turned down in Uithoorn, but after a conversation with the computer centre manager, I was hired as a programmer in the manufacturing sector. This was a very useful period for me; I learned to work quickly and efficiently, to analyze and make decisions in a very practical environment." Then followed a period at the international lab in Uithoorn where Harry helped set up Professional Services and headed up the Marketing Center (MISC). The third step was a worldwide transformation - the Hone Link project - for the global CIO (chief information officer), one of the first global projects.
Harry was then sent to Paris where he served as Director of Service Delivery for EMEA. In this role the consolidation of data centres and IT- optimization for both IBM as well as external customers in EMEA was achieved.
Next, Harry was the Managing Director for Royal Philips Electronics account in the Netherlands, one of IBM’s largest and most highly valued customers. He then served as Vice President, Industrial Sector EMEA, covering major Industries like automotive and electronics.
Other former assignments include the implementation of the regional model in EMEA, transformation and globalization assignments on a global scale, as well as international assignments in the area of consultancy, professional services, application development and manufacturing.
