Celebrate Easter at the Emaischen

Head to the Emaischen pottery markets in Luxembourg City and Nospelt for a local Easter experience.

Held on Easter Monday since at least 1827, the annual Emaischen is an opportunity to buy a Péckvillchen, a bird-shaped clay whistle, traditionally exchanged between lovers but now also gifted more widely. 

Festivities in Luxembourg City kick off around 8am in the old town around the Marché-aux-Poissons and outside the St Michel church. In Nospelt, the Emaischen starts at 10am with the last music performance starting at 6pm. Both events promise traditional dance, food and entertainment.
