Pina Bausch’s dance troupe will be performing renowned piece Kontakthof at the Grand Théâtre this weekend.

The dance piece is inspired by human contact and was created by Bausch in 1978, one of the late dancer and choreographer’s most minimalist productions. 

The piece is set in a shabby dance hall where women in slinky dresses and men in sharp suits parade and prowl around each other, to a soundtrack of love songs from the ‘20s and ‘30s. There are brief moments of tender connection between the 24 dancers contrasted with outbursts of aggression.
