The Alliance for Financial Inclusion wants to showcase “the world’s most promising fintech and regtech innovators that are enhancing access to and the usage and quality of formal financial services for low-income populations in developing countries and emerging markets.”

This year’s themes are covid-19 crisis response and recovery, transforming digital payments and building financial resilience.

Those who are selected to participate in the programme will be able to, AFI said, “engage with central banks, government ministries and other financial policymaking institutions from 88 developing and emerging market economies.” There will also be mentoring and training provided by the Luxembourg House of Financial Technology, the opportunity to attend AFI conferences and the chance to apply for the Pacific Regional Regulatory Sandbox, which covers eight Indo-Pacific countries.

The top three finalists will receive an “invitation to participate in AFI Public-Private Dialogue activities for one year”, a “complimentary one-year membership at the Lhoft” and an “invitation to participate in 2022 AFI Global Policy Forum in Jordan”.

AFI is a thinktank “owned and led by member central banks and financial regulatory institutions with the common objective of advancing financial inclusion at the country, regional and international levels.”

Applications are open until 17 December at 4:59pm Luxembourg time. Finalists will be announced in February 2022. Mentoring by the Lhoft will take place during the first half of March 2022. Finalists will present their technical plans and winners will be announced in the second half of March 2022.
