The conference is the second annual gathering of key stakeholders across the food value chain, including public authorities, international and civil society organisations and other related parties interested in helping to shape the EU’s path towards sustainable food systems.
The conference tagged “Building sustainable food systems together” takes place just before the World Food Day scheduled to hold on 16 October.
Being the second edition of the Farm to Fork conference, this year’s event, which will hold mostly online, will delve into the progress made from the the strategy’s action plan, and support the EU’s efforts to achieve a global transition to sustainable food systems.
The conference includes an opening session with European Commission Executive Vice-President Frans Timmermans, an opening speech by the European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety, Stella Kyriakides, who is also responsible for the Farm to Fork Strategy, and a speech by the European Commissioner for Agriculture, Janusz Wojciechowski.
A high-level debate with an international dimension focused on the challenges and opportunities of a global transition to sustainable food systems will take place on the first day, as well as keynote speeches from top personalities including UN special envoy Dr. Agnes Kalibata. Other programmes on the agenda include thematic workshops, an inspirational talk, interactive Q&A sessions and many others.
