Club Talk : The ambitious path to open finance

Open Banking regulation, innovation and technology have a tremendous potential to revolutionize the Financial Services Industry.

Thanks to PSD2 in the EU, Europe has been leading the way with its open banking initiatives. This significant development represents the beginning of the democratization of the financial services industry by allowing third parties to access current account transaction information and initiate payments. There is so much more to do and Open finance goes way beyond open banking to incorporate other products.

There is growing support for this movement globally, as evidenced in the Hong Kong Monetary Authority’s open banking framework and also in the UK where the financial regulator is running a consultation on open finance at present.

Through this club talk, we will make an initial assessment of the deployment of open banking, study a concrete business case through LUXHUB and discuss the possible development of open finance, particularly in Luxembourg with a panel.
