Cloud Public, Privé ou Hybride: Quelle solution pour quelle utilisation?

“The individualised Cloud puzzle”

Retour au dossier

As companies today are increasingly digital, cloud-based technology has become an essential business tool. Olivier Penin, Director Sales, Marketing and Solutions at Telkea, shares his views on finding the right Cloud solution in a puzzling landscape.

“Today, the Cloud is more than simply putting data in an external data center,” says Olivier Penin, Director Sales, Marketing and Solutions at Telkea Group, a Luxembourg-based IT and telecommunications service provider. “The Cloud is related to operational, financial and legal approaches. It is a way of bringing external technology into the business, allowing companies to operate in an efficient and agile manner.”

Penin compares the Cloud to a puzzle in which there are more pieces than blanks to fill in. Putting together this puzzle can be a challenging task, so companies need assistance to guide them in this mission. Only with the right help and support can they choose the perfect combination of pieces to build the puzzle that works for them and their operations. “This is where Telkea comes in,” explains Penin. “We advise and build the IT to enable clients to run their businesses well.”

One Cloud, many areas

Of course, no company looks like another one. To suit the ever-changing needs of a vast variety of clients, Penin and his team at Telkea believe that standardised customisation is key. “Whether working with healthcare, finance or industry clients, our job is to understand each individual business and the way they want to drive growth,” says Penin. While IT and the Cloud are still fairly recent developments in the 90-year-old history of Telkea, the company has built a reputation for always putting customer needs first. In Penin’s eyes, this has been part of Telkea’s DNA since day one.

“In today’s Cloud age, we build the IT puzzle in a combination of housing, hosting and SaaS services, located in our own data centers in Luxembourg or with technology partners like Microsoft Azure, Cisco and others,” explains Penin. “It is amazing to see how this can help to enable business transformation and even new business models, like today’s Fintech.” Telkea helps in the full journey, advising, implementing and operating, while making sure that clients can keep focusing on their business.

A challenging field

There are many Cloud-based solutions available, each one bringing certain advantages but also challenges. Penin elaborates on the challenges, breaking them down into three categories: “First there is the reliability of the access to the Cloud. Then there is security, both in confidentiality and integrity of the data handled and stored. Lastly, and often forgotten, keeping control of your data in a Cloud environment.” After all, data is the biggest asset of a company today, so staying on top of it is an unmissable step on the road to success.
