In your opinion, what are the unique challenges that come with growing a business rapidly, and how do you navigate them?
. —“Velocity is a very interesting question. From how I see, too much of it can be extremely damaging and not enough can be equally so. I believe that growing a business is about constantly assessing the right pace in which to do things based on the most efficient strategy. If it takes longer, but will ensure better returns, maybe that is the better option. Speed is not always the best way forward; strategy rules the roost.
Could you share some of the strategies that have helped your business grow and scale up successfully?
“Looking back over the last 10 years of growing a company, it sometimes feels like I have run five different companies, as each phase of growth requires a different skill set and approach. However, if there is one thing that flows across all of them, it is having complete awareness of every single area of business. Learning to delegate is hard and necessary, but it doesn’t mean you can take your finger off the pulse.
What are the core values and beliefs that guide your decision-making as a scale-up entrepreneur?
“Core values have formed the DNA of our company culture since the outset. As founders we have been consistently focused on creating a culture that united and motivated our team and reflected what we believe in. The notions of “family first”, the value that ensures every person in our team needs to excuse to be with their family when they need them; work hard, play harder ensures that we celebrate our wins, be it big or small; and lastly, the “hacker mentality” – the power of knowing something so intrinsically well that there is always a solution to a tough challenge shape almost every aspect of our company.”
