Ahead of the Start-up Stories: Round 4 event organised by the Paperjam + Delano Club on Tuesday 26 October, Curry Bowl representative Clément Senaratne shares his entrepreneurial vision.

What are the qualities needed to launch your startup?

Clément Senaratne. —“Time from the founders. Startups need time and attention. The time commitment you’re able to give your startup plays a key role. How much of your total focus can you commit to your startup? There is a big difference when focusing on two things and on one. Entrepreneurial stamina/fitness that determines the ability to put in the discipline in day out consistently. The ability to learn from other successes and apply what is necessary for your business without trying to reinvent everything.

Do you have any advice to give to those who are still hesitant to get started?

“Waiting for the moment could at times kills ideas. Reasons that seem logical and justifiable that keep delaying to get things started can be a virus in getting your idea moving forward. Sometimes you must get started and things fall into place while on the move.

We often hear that it is essential to make mistakes. What do you think about this?

“I’m not sure if it’s essential to make mistakes to learn. But certainly you learn better off mistakes than learning through other means. I think in smart business developing, you must be able to build the ability to learn from others who are more experienced or bring in the resources that could help avoid going through finger burning experiences that can be costly financially and timely.”
