As part of the 10×6 Generation Z, organised by the Paperjam+Delano Business Club on Tuesday 28 November, Mara Kroth, co-founder and director of GoldenMe, shares her story and what inspires her.

What inspired you to become an entrepreneur and launch your own project in Luxembourg?

. – “It happened by accident during the Ideation Camp 2018. My motivation was to help seniors in the same situation as my grandma.

What key lessons have you learned as an entrepreneur, and what advice would you give to other young people considering starting their own ventures?

“When starting a venture, try to understand. Go to stakeholders and interview them, stay curious, understand the connections, how you fit in and how to make everything better.

Always create your network and create win-win situations. Be persistent in following your vision, also in times of doubt. Assemble a handful of mentors and persons of trust that will reflect with you.

But also always listen to your gut feeling.

What specific challenges did you face as a young entrepreneur in Luxembourg and how did you overcome them?

“I sometimes had the impression that I was not taken seriously because of my age (and being a student at the time), gender and the fact that I am not from Luxembourg. I was often asked: “Why is a young person interested to do something for the elderly?”

I overcame these by creating trustworthy relationships and demonstrating that I am consistent with what we are doing with GoldenMe.”
