En amont de l’événement Start-up Stories: Round 1 organisé par le Paperjam + Delano Club le mercredi 24 février, le représentant de la société Celestial Space Technologies, Johannes Schumacher, partage sa vision d’entrepreneur.

From the idea to its realisation, there is only one step… and yet. What triggered your entrepreneurial adventure?

Johannes Schumacher. – “My interest in entrepreneurship has been there before the idea. I knew I wanted to work in a start-up, ideally be the founder myself. For me it was about selecting a promising idea and co-founder. I was regularly exploring various ideas and teams, e.g., in hackathons. The one setup which grew to a company by now is what gained most traction. These promising developments made me stay and push this further.

What are the qualities needed to launch your start-up?

“Obviously, industry understanding, product and technology development, and management abilities are required, as for every project. What’s more unique to my start-up is related to the fact that we are developing hardware for space. Development and delivery cycles for hardware are long already. The application in space adds to that. Therefore, it is critical to be able to plan ahead, in detail, in order to avoid runaway cost and time.

We often hear that it is essential to make mistakes. What do you think about this?

“It’s not about making mistakes for the sake of making mistakes. The goal is not to make knowingly mistakes, actually it’s to avoid mistakes. It is however important to explore and take risks. With this mindset, some mistakes cannot be avoided. In this case, hopefully you will have learned something and be able to improve.”
