On September 26, EFG Bank (Luxembourg) S.A. is hosting a golf tournament in the Grand Duchy. Promoting the spirit of competition and entrepreneurship while supporting local young talent are at the heart of the bank’s activities, explains CEO Lena Lascari.

Competitors in the invitational golf tournament – the bank’s first in Luxembourg – include clients and partners as well as a selection of young rising stars on the national golf scene. The event, which will feature around 76 players, will take place at Luxembourg’s Kikuoka Country Club, renowned for its immaculate greens and challenging course.

Around a third of the competitors are institutional guests while the rest are members of the Kikuoka club itself. In addition to the adult competition, there will also be the EFG Rising Stars challenge in which nine promising talents – five male, four female – of the Fédération Luxembourgeoise de Golf (FLG) will be taking part. “These young talents have been appointed by the FLG as they are proud flag bearers with high potential at the international level,” says Mrs Lascari.

Players will compete individually, and the tournament will follow a shotgun format. Adult players will be able to compete for prizes in fun, challenging categories such as “the longest drive,” “nearest the pin,” and more. There will also be a tombola with various prizes including EFG-branded goodies as well as a golf bag and a putter.

Supporting communities and encouraging the spirit of enterprise

Giving back to the communities where the bank is located is at the heart of EFG, both in Luxembourg and elsewhere, Mrs Lascari explains. Part of this is helping to instill in young generations an appreciation for how dedication, hard work, and keeping an eye on the prize can lead to success and achievement. This aim is very much aligned with EFG’s long-term perspective and its entrepreneurial thinking .

As part of EFG’s global social commitment, we aim to make a meaningful contribution to the communities where we are located, including here in Luxembourg.

Fostering talent around the world

EFG is helping to nurture the next generation of talent and enable them to realise their full potential. This commitment is shown through the bank’s numerous sports partnerships around the world including in Switzerland, the UK, various locations in Asia, and now Luxembourg.

“Sport plays a vital role in developing a positive mindset, whether you are an aspiring professional athlete or a keen amateur golfer, like many of our clients. Sports such as golf give young rising stars the chance to perform at the highest level, acquire valuable skills, and become positive role models in the community.” -Lena Lascari, CEO of EFG Bank (Luxembourg) S.A.

On top of fostering talent and encouraging clients and other institutional guests to improve their skills, the sociable format of the tournament allows adult competitors to really interact with young athletes and get a fuller understanding of their world, goals, and ambitions. “Sport is able to unite and inspire us, and if these young golfers are anything to go by, the future feels very bright, and we are proud to be a part of their journey,” Mrs. Lascari says.
