The two Belgian law offices which operated under the name Loyens, have also changed their name to Loyens & Loeff.
2007 has been a milestone year in the development of the Luxembourg firm. In fact, Loyens & Loeff Luxembourg grew significantly during the year. The number of fee-earners nearly doubled, with close to 100 fee-earners at year-end 2007 (as compared to 52 at year-end 2006). This amazing growth has unequivocally put Loyens & Loeff Luxembourg in the top tier of law firms in Luxembourg.
The arrival of several new partners in 2007 strengthens the teams of high quality experts of the firm: Marc Meyers (Investment Management), Dirk Lontings (Corporate), and Danielle Kolbach (Banking & Finance) all joined the ranks of the Luxembourg firm as new partners in 2007, and Eugene Tchen (Banking & Finance) joined as a partner in December 2006. Gérald Origer and Peter Moons, senior associates of the firm, have been appointed partners and Gérald will move from Corporate to the Investment Management team as of January 2008. Thibaut Partsch, counsel in the Investment Management team, joined in September 2007 after having spent many years practising with major law firms in Brussels and most recently at the European Court of Justice. Further, two senior tax lawyers from the Dutch offices of Loyens & Loeff, Pieter Stalman, who worked in the Amsterdam, Geneva, Tokyo and Eindhoven offices and was the Managing Partner in Eindhoven, and Wout van Dalen, the respected former Chairman of the firm who oversaw the merger of the Loyens and the Loeff contingents, have decided to support the further development of the tax practice in Luxembourg and spend an important share of their time in Luxembourg.
