The Luxembourg Trade and Investment Office in New York today announced that Gartner, Inc. has opened its first office in Luxembourg, to extend its reach in Europe, and serve existing and prospective clients who have located there as part of Luxembourg’s increasing technology industry footprint.

The inaugural Gartner Luxembourg office will include James Clonan (senior account executive and co‐manager) and Mohammed Alkass (business development executive), who will represent Gartner locally to support client initiatives in Europe and beyond. They will be supported by scheduled analysts visits and local briefings.

Luxembourg is a preferred location for digital content distribution and for access to the cloud, and has developed a leading‐edge position in the new media, entertainment and e‐ commerce industries. Top‐tier companies located in Luxembourg include telecommunication leaders Vodafone and Intelsat, Skype and Millicom, e‐commerce pioneers Amazon.com, eBay and Rakuten, and software giants including Microsoft, Symantec and Open Text. In the media and entertainment industry, iTunes, Netflix and Sony chose Luxembourg to serve as their platform to access European markets. Fast growing online gaming companies Zynga, Kabam, Innova and Nexon, among others, have recently made Luxembourg their European distribution platform – coming from North America, Korea and Russia.

Marc Swartjes, Regional Vice President of Gartner Benelux: “Our entry into Luxembourg coincides with the country’s ascent into the digital economy, and our desire to help our clients leverage that positioning throughout Europe. The combination of Luxembourg’s data center infrastructure, pan‐European connectivity, installed client base, and cutting‐edge pro‐technology financial and IP structures, make it a logical choice for our own analytic and service platform.”

Etienne Schneider, Luxembourg Minister of the Economy and Foreign Trade, stated: “We are pleased to welcome the world‐class organization that is Gartner to Luxembourg, and delighted that it has chosen to adopt our country’s advantages on behalf of its clients and its own growing objectives. Gartner will find a welcome home here in a familiar world of new and exciting technology, and Luxembourg looks forward to a long and fruitful collaboration.”

François Biltgen, Luxembourg Minister for Telecommunications and Media, added: ”Gartner’s move into Luxembourg is another proof of the country’s attractiveness for global technology companies. It shows that the Luxembourg Government’s strategy to actively develop and invest in information and communication technologies is paying off.”
