“We are happy that we have been chosen by DG Enterprise. This service contract for providing translations of technical regulations in all official languages of the EU (except for Irish) is a great success and underlines our strong position in the public sector as well as our competences in the technical field”, mentions Brigitte Hennemann, Managing Director of Euroscript Luxembourg S.à r.l.

The contract, which has been signed by both parties on Friday, 4 April 2008, will come into force on 1 May 2008, run for 12 months and may be renewed 3 times, each time for a period of 12 months (i.e. a total maximum duration of the contract of 48 months).

The contract for translations of technical regulations applies to all industrial and agricultural products as well as to information society services. The texts are of a technical, legal and/or economic nature. If the source texts are less than 40 pages, translation will be required into all community languages (except Irish). Voluminous texts (40 pages or more) and the majority of communications exchanged between the Commission and the Member States will need to be translated mostly into the working languages of the Commission only (i.e. English, French, German) with other languages on request.

Brigitte Hennemann highlights the key numbers: “We expect a volume of around 20,000 pages per year in the source language and the minimum budget is expected to be EUR 5.5 million”.

The successful tender offer, prepared under the guidance of Antonio Sette (service manager Language Services, Euroscript Luxembourg S.à r.l.), will involve the following subcontractors:

- Euroscript Deutschland GmbH (Germany),

- SIA Euroscript Baltija (Latvia),

- Euroscript Magyaroszág Kft (Hungary),

- Euroscript Polska Sp. z o. o. (Poland),

- Euroscript-Certitude S.R.L. (Romania), and

- Lusoscript Lda (Portugal).

Eurodoc & Syselog are included as backup production centres.

Once more, this contract will prove euroscript’s capabilities in cross-border collaboration and will be carried out using Euroscript’s proprietary “escæpe” production system.
