Cargo 2000 (C2K) today announced at its Annual General Meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, that Cargolux Airlines International S.A. has gained C2K platinum membership status 2012, joining the club of only seven C2K members that have reached this level of C2K’s new classification system. With this step, C2K honors Cargolux’s successful integration of Cargo2000. This is achieved by implementing processes that are measurable and supported by quality standards, event monitoring and proactive IT systems. It improves the efficiency of air cargo, enhances customer service levels and reduces the operational costs of all participants. The goal is to meet the shipment planning and tracking requirements of the shippers and consignees, who have strongly endorsed the project.

Cargolux became a certified member of Cargo 2000 in 2003 and has endorsed the Cargo2000 initiative since its beginning. The airline’s membership is synonymous with outstanding service and reliable procedures.

The goal of the new membership classification is to move air-cargo organizations toward full integration of Cargo 2000. It consists of four different categories of membership based on a point system that objectively measures a company’s integration of Cargo 2000 into its daily business processes:

• Member (0 to 30 points)
• Silver (31 to 50 points)
• Gold (51 to 80 points)
• Platinum (81 or more points)

The ultimate objective is to increase the value of Cargo 2000 both internally and externally.

The membership classification confers additional value and quality to Cargo 2000 and Cargolux; the higher the membership level, the greater the rewards.

Cargo 2000 operates as in industry group within IATA (International Air Transport Association), composed of more than 80 major airlines, ground handling agents, trucking companies and IT providers and aims to improve the performance of air freight through the implementation of a quality management system for the industry.
