BeyondTrust, the leading provider of privilege delegation and authorization management solutions, today announced the expansion of its PowerBroker® suite to include PowerBroker® Desktops, DLP Edition, to help customers filter and contain sensitive data critical to their businesses.

"The acquisition of GentleSecurity and the launch of our PowerBroker Desktop DLP solution add a very important technology to our vision of securing the perimeter within,” said John Mutch, CEO at BeyondTrust. "GentleSecurity CEO Andrey Kolishchak is a respected thought leader in the security industry, the author of several security patents, and holds a PhD in information security and will become a valuable addition to the BeyondTrust team."

"Joining forces with BeyondTrust is a natural evolution of the relationship that we have developed in working together to bring data loss prevention solutions to market,” said Kolishchak. "Now being a part of the team means more resources, broader reach and enhanced collaboration and development of simple to deploy, cost-effective solutions for data loss prevention."

The new PowerBroker Desktops, DLP Edition adds an additional layer of security management control to the BeyondTrust privilege identity management and administrative rights portfolio by helping customers remotely monitor internal interactions and assess sensitive content loss risks that can threaten organizational brand and compliance requirements. The solution is a content-driven loss prevention system that effectively polices sensitive data on desktops by monitoring and controlling data transfer across distributed and diverse network environments, regardless of content type.

PowerBroker Desktops, DLP Edition reduces the risks of information loss and leakage by increasing IT visibility into, and jurisdiction over, endpoint violations via file encryption, usage and permission controls to intellectual property. The software monitors sensitive content through several mechanisms, including content sampling, file type designation and user creator. IT departments can centrally define and manage their information security and – remotely and in real time – enact measures including alerts, encryption and transfer blocking to safeguard intellectual property. Furthermore, administrators and security personnel are granted full audit reports of intellectual property activity and access.

"Our security strategy at Laboratoire National de Santé, revolves around protecting our assets," said the IT and security manager, who wished to remain anonymous. "With our most valuable digital asset being our data, we wanted to rest assured that we had full visibility and a permanent control over the dataflow in our enterprise. PowerBroker Desktops, DLP Edition (formally known as LeakWall DLP), with the robust reporting, monitoring and data protection it provides, is the right tool we need to support our strategy."
