15 participants completed the first module of the New Certification Program for Company Secretaries from the Luxembourg Institute of Directors (ILA) last 21st and 22nd of September, at the Chamber of Commerce in Luxembourg. With this first module, ILA has officially launched its new certification program dedicated to Company Secretaries.
Catherine Beaujour (Chair of the ILA Company Secretary Committee) presented the New Certification Program underlining the importance of the role played by company secretaries. ‘The role and importance of company secretaries has significantly evolved in recent years in Luxembourg. They are the guardians of compliance in a company, they are a key contributor to good corporate governance, and a key facilitator for corporate governance work. Company secretaries are the premier interlocutor for stakeholders in the company’.
In order to get the Luxembourg Company Secretarial & Governance
Practice Certificate from ILA, participants will need to complete 8 modules (training sessions) that will help them to:

Understand the key components of company secretarial practice in Luxembourg;

Learn about the respective roles and responsibilities of the key stakeholders;

Explore the best corporate governance practices in the field of company secretarial in order to ensure optimal Board and Management support;

Assess Board and key corporate bodies’ dynamics, and maximize personal effectiveness;

Consider current developments, trends and topical issues.
ILA launched in 2012 their Certification Program for Directors. Since then, ILA has trained and certified 89 Directors in Luxembourg. This New Certification Program for Company Secretaries strengthens ILA’s education offering on corporate governance in Luxembourg.
