According to statistique.lu, in 2022, Ukrainians led the influx of immigrants to Luxembourg with over 4,000 newcomers. LUkraine, a non-profit with public interest status, highlights how businesses support initiatives to develop a Ukrainian community.

Business involvement in community building helps forge stronger ties between corporations and the community, attracting new talent and engaging the company’s employees in volunteering activities, enhancing their long-term loyalty. The non-profit’s task, in this case, is to ensure that all legal requirements are met, simplifying every step of the project’s roadmap.

For example, obtained public interest status, making all donations tax-deductible and reducing bureaucracy for our partners. Here are some examples of non-profit and business collaborations.

Amazon Luxembourg: funding youth projects

Amazon Luxembourg granted funds for the Mriya School and SuperU camp projects for Ukrainian kids aged 6-13. The school is a unique educational space where children can maintain their connection with Ukrainian language, culture, and history while discovering Luxembourg and integrating into its society. The company also graciously provided its office for the school to conduct their classes on weekends.

Additionally, Amazon volunteers provide workshops to refugees, assisting them in writing CVs, motivational letters, and job-seeking, which helps them integrate into the Luxembourgish labor market more effectively.

KPMG Luxembourg: welcoming an info center for refugees

KPMG Luxembourg, as an example of non-financial aid, offers LUkraine 851 sqm of office space in the Kirchberg area in Luxembourg to welcome its info center for refugees. This space enables the association to host daily activities such as English and French language courses to support those undergoing job-seeking processes, as well as professional workshops and seminars to help them integrate into their new communities.

In addition, considering that many have had to flee the war in difficult circumstances, a handful of Ukrainian psychologists offer this space necessary treatment to both young and older individuals regularly.

Artec 3D – providing financial support for long-term initiatives

Artec 3D, a global leader in handheld and portable 3D scanners, automatically donates 1% of its income from each sale to LUkraine. This provides sustainable financial support for our projects, enabling us to plan long-term initiatives. In addition to institutional support, Artec 3D is actively involved in LUkraine’s emergency response projects. The company donated an ambulance to the Ukraine Calling project, which aims to provide Ukraine with 112 fire trucks and ambulances.

This summer, the company launched the Water to Every Home Project, which seeks to drill wells to provide clean water to cities and villages following the destruction of the Nova Kakhovka dam in June 2022. Over one million people in Ukraine face severe water shortages, including approximately 310,000 children in southern Ukraine. Thanks to Artec 3D, we can now begin drilling the first well.

To summarize, investing in local community development is a profitable business CSR initiative, as it integrates a company as an integral part of the country’s social life, helps businesses find new loyal employees from a long-term perspective, and contributes to building the future we want.
