What are the core values and beliefs that guide your decision-making as a scale-up entrepreneur?
. —“All our decisions at Arendt are made with the long-term in mind. This is true both at the level of the partnership and at the level of the management. Also, we have always been able to maintain our entrepreneurial spirit and are constantly innovating and developing new services. It is part of our DNA. We fundamentally believe that every good idea deserves to be listened to and explored. Our corporate culture is based on the commitment of each individual.
How do you determine and assess the effectiveness of your business strategy as you scale up?
“Our business strategy works when our clients use several of our expertise rather than limiting themselves to one service. The more Arendt services our clients use, the more effective our strategy is. Therefore, constantly developing new products and creating new offerings is an essential element of our strategy. All of this should then result in revenue increase while maintaining our profitability.
The commitment of our people to our strategy is also an important key indicator for us. For example, we organise several annual events dedicated to sharing knowledge and expertise between our different teams on a very large scale. This year’s internal "Study Day" is next month and will bring together more than 600 people who will share their expertise with their colleagues in order to cement the seamless integration of everything we do.
In your opinion, what are the unique challenges that come with growing a business rapidly, and how do you navigate them?
“Rapid growth can bring about changes in the way the company operates, and this can affect the culture in both positive (new opportunities, more resources to invest in people) and negative ways (less nimble, more rules and procedures). It is therefore fundamental to consider how to maintain your company’s culture as it scales up and how to engage the staff to foster a sense of belonging and purpose. With the growth of the company, it’s important to plan for the future and ensure that you have the right people in place to take on leadership roles and it is important to ensure that your staff has the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their job effectively. At the end, it all comes down to human considerations.”
