Mitsuha is a teenager held back by family traditions. She dreams of leaving her mountain home for Tokyo. Taki is a young student living in Tokyo who fills his time with working in an Italian restaurant and hanging out with friends. Through her dreams, Mitsuha is propelled into Taki’s world while Taki assumes hers.
