Taking its inspiration from Virginia Woolf’s 1928 essay ‘A Room of One’s Own’, the improvised show presents stories, monologues and scenes, all centring around the lives of women and sparked by suggestions from the audience. Comic tragic or poignant, anything can happen because every moment, including live music and lighting, is created on the spot.
The art of improvisation is as old as human imagination itself. In “The Virginia Monologues” the stories will unfold as the evening unfolds, the actors discovering them at the same time as the audience, who get to witness a rare moment of dramatic candour, an authentic act of creation.
“The Virginia Monologues” features Rhona Richards and Nathalie Jacoby with guest musician Peter Corser from Paris.
