The first, “Up to the last Drop” (pictured) by Yorgo Avgeropoulos, is a documentary following the money and corporate interests behind water rights over a four-year period in 13 cities across six EU countries. While Berlin and Paris have recently taken back public control over their water services, the financial and political European elites are demanding from Greece, Portugal and Ireland to privatise theirs. “Up to the last Drop” explores the human rights versus the commercial interests in water supplies.
Second on the billing is “Letters from Germany”, a silent film shot in black and white, shot partially in Luxembourg. The 2015 short is set to music by Eleni Karaindrou. Viewings at 7pm on 22 May and 9pm on 23 May.
