Year 9 and 10 drama students will bring to the stage H. G. Wells’ sci-fi class “The War of the Worlds” for one night.

Written between 1895 and 1897, the story follows one man and his brother in London as southern England is invaded by Martians. It was first serialised in 1897 in the UK by Pearson’s Magazine and has gone on to be made into feature films, radio dramas, TV series and comic books.

It also heavily influenced the work of a number of scientists, for example Robert Goddard who, inspired by the book, invented the liquid-fuelled rocket and multistage rocket, which resulted in the Apollo 11 moon landing in 1959.

Admission to the performance is free of charge.
