See pimped up village

Paperjam.lu

Visitors to Kahler in the southwest of Luxembourg might be surprised to see the barn and house facades popping with colour, but that’s part of the fun for Luxembourg artist Alain Welter.

Welter started the “Make Koler Kooler” project for his final thesis as part of his studies in illustration design in Berlin. On 15 July the official vernissage of the urban art museum will take place.

Kahler (“Koler” in Luxembourgish) is a village with just a few hundred residents, but the community was on board with Welter from the start.

For the vernissage, Welter is enlisting fellow artists. Over the course of the day, there will also be a creators’ market featuring artists like Oh Mamie, Julie Wagener, Kousca, Lynn Cosyn, Giamba, Lys Differding and Jeff Poitiers. A live painting demonstration will also take place with Daniel Mac Lloyd.

"For the vernissage, I didn't just want to show my work from Koler, but also that of other creatives by inviting other artists and musical groups from Luxembourg," Welter told Delano.

Local bands will also be playing at the event, including Seed to Tree, Räpzodi, Bartleby Delicat, All Reitz Reserved, and Hunneg-Strëpp.
