Revived in the Indian state of Kerala, the art form is deeply connected to nature and spirituality. One of the oldest martial arts in the world, Kalaripayattu is attributed to the ancient sage Agastya and to Lord Parashurama.
It shares principles similar to those found in yoga, aiming to elevate the body and mind of practitioners to a higher state of consciousness.
