However, the site also has a sadder history: in 1941, the Gestapo used it as an internment camp for Jews prior to deportation, mainly to Auschwitz.
On 9 June, the natur&ëmwelt English section will host a guided tour to the site. Departing from Luxembourg Gare at 11:16am, the group will arrive in Troisvierges round 12:24pm. From there, the tour will take participants along a scenic route to the abbey, where there will be a guided tour of the site and more about its history will be revealed.
The group will then hike back to the Troisvierges station (at 4:35pm or 5:35pm), with arrival in Luxembourg City at 5:43pm or 6:43pm, depending on departure time.
Hikers are invited to bring a picnic with them, as lunch will not be provided.
