Winner of the The Brian Way Award for best new play 2013 and Lyn Gardner’s pick of the 2013 Fringe in The Guardian, “Wot? No Fish!!” has astounded critics and audiences alike.

The artfully told tale of shoemaker Ab Solomons who, from 1926 to 1982, drew a picture on the back of his weekly wage packet which he gave to his wife, Celie, is both comical and thought-provking as the images chronicle family life in the East End of London, through ups and downs, with great wit and warmth and blistering honesty. They also give a historical account of a changing city, from the 1920s, through the Second World War, and on to the 1980s, vividly depicting shifting ambitions and attitudes.

Years later, Danny Braverman (pictured) discovered the lost art of his great-uncle Ab on more than 3,000 wage packets in a shoebox, unleashing a family’s secrets and truths. Like a graphic novel brought to life, with the drawings projected on stage, Braverman returns to Luxembourg to share the story with affection and humour.

The performance is organised by the British Chamber of commerce as part of its twenty-fifth anniversary celebrations.

Entry costs €15 for BCC members and €25 for non-members.
