Double feature for new theatre company

 Two Shoes Theatre Company

Two Shoes Theatre Company

Two Shoes Theatre Company, a new English-language venture, is performing its inaugural project this week.

“Sex, Dregs & Licorice Allsorts” is an evening of two short plays by Jim Cartwright and Alan Bennett, acclaimed as two of Britain’s best living writers for the stage.

Cartwright’s “I Licked a Slag’s Deodorant” is a funny, beautifully brutal and achingly sad play about a crack-addicted prostitute and a socially inept man who find a bridge out of loneliness. The second play, Bennett’s “Playing Sandwiches” is culled from the playwright’s “Talking Heads” series of monologues, which are crafted around marginalised people.

Both writers have been described as expert wordsmiths of great imaginative flair, who weave stories of complex simplicity that stimulate, satisfy and resoundingly entertain. The plays, which feature adult content and language, are directed by stalwarts of the local English-language theatre scene, John Brigg and Gav Guilfoyle. The company says teh plays will "intirgue, entertain and blow your socks off."

Performances are on 18,19, 21, 24, 25 & 26 April at 7 p.m.

Tickets, costing 15€, can be booked via email: [email protected] or telephone: 621 324 770
