Don’t miss Congés annulés

Paperjam.lu

If there is one reason to stay in Luxembourg in August it is this, the annual Congés annules festival at Rotondes. The summer programme features a host of excellent international and local acts performing on stage at the Klub.

Some highlights of this year’s line up have already been announced, and hats off to booker Marc Hauser and his team for producing a thrilling programme that rivals the best the festival has offered so far.

The festival opens with local act Mutiny On The Bounty. Then comes Japanese guitar, saxophone, bass and drums outift Goat (not to be confused with the cult Swedish band of teh same name), whose unusual approach to music is said to be both urban and tribal at the same time.

German post-punk trio Die Nerven also perform at Rotondes in August. Their second album, “Fun”, was hailed by Spiegel Online as one of the best and most relevant German-speaking albums of this decade. Latest album “Out” features a standout track that has become a Delano favourite.

Also on the bill is American singer-songwriter Kevin Morby (photo), whose latest album, “Singing Saw”, received a rave review from Pitchfork. And popular soulful Danish singer Alex Vargas is also part of the programme.

This year an open-air stage will also host performances and the programme will also feature the usual array of music related events, parties and film screenings.
