Boogie in the barn

For the second year in a row, Gigs4U is organising a family-friendly event to celebrate local food and culture at the Kass-Haff farm in Rollingen.

The event, “Beim Bauer Kass ass eng lass” (roughly translated to “It’s all happening at the Kass farm”), kicks off on 8 June at 6pm, with an evening of Luxembourg-based bands playing free concerts inside the barn. The lineup includes Luxembourg singer-songwriter, Ocean Tides; the pop-groove act, Bye Bye Bay (pictured); and the indie-folk act, The Tame and the Wild. An after-party with a DJ will take place from 10:30pm until 1am the following morning.

On Sunday, 10 June, more free activities await from 11am-6pm, including a kids’ bouncy castle and a relaxation workshop.

Gigs4U is a non-profit organisation founded in 2013 which aims not just to promote national and regional culture and artists, but also to attract people with innovative ideas. Its president and treasurer, Nick Barone, says this year’s event has expanded to include more musical acts. What’s more, he says, “We also focus on being ecological and will even have biodegradable plates [to serve the food].”

This philosophy is shared by Tom Kass, director of the Kass-Haff farm, who practices organic farming based on Demeter guidelines. As part of the free event, grilled meat--which comes straight from the farm--will be available for purchase, along with other food and drinks.

Although there are no planned activities for Saturday, the farm is generally open to visitors during normal operating hours, but it’s best to call ahead on 26 32 05 06.
